Since I had only published a few blog entries at the prevous address there aren't too many to copy/paste to here.
First, though, the idea of Speculative Art. In my first attempt at blogging this theme I said:
"The art formerly associated with speculativism was mere illustration of the writer's work."
Hmm, that's only true of some speculative work. I was thinking of the huge history of science fiction and fantasy illustration which had to follow the dictates of writers and editors. Of course, speculativist work is found in fine art as well as commercial illustration.
Speculative Art is a broad genre, encompassing Futurism, Surrealism, Dada, Symbolism, Pittura Metafisica, Science Fiction themes, Romanticism, Horror, Adbusting, Satire, psychological explorations, Magic Realism and Fantasy.
The purpose of this blog is to publish some speculative work of my own and to discuss the range of topics related to Speculativism.
"An art philosophy which speculates on the nature of reality, humanity, time and place." I'm interested in ways of exploring the other side of reality through art, rather than merely illustrating someone else's thoughts.
